Sparse and Random Sampling Techniques for High-Resolution, Full-Field, BSS-Based Structural Dynamics Identification from Video.

Video-based techniques for identification of structural dynamics have the advantage that they are very inexpensive to deploy compared to conventional accelerometer or strain gauge techniques. When structural dynamics from video is accomplished using full-field, high-resolution analysis techniques utilizing algorithms on the pixel time series such as principal components analysis and solutions to blind source separation the added benefit of high-resolution, full-field modal identification is achieved. An important property of video of vibrating structures is that it is particularly sparse. Typically video of vibrating structures has a dimensionality consisting of many thousands or even millions of pixels and hundreds to thousands of frames. However the motion of the vibrating structure can be described using only a few mode shapes and their associated time series. As a result, emerging techniques for sparse and random sampling such as compressive sensing should be applicable to performing modal identification on video. This work presents how full-field, high-resolution, structural dynamics identification frameworks can be coupled with compressive sampling. The techniques described in this work are demonstrated to be able to recover mode shapes from experimental video of vibrating structures when 70% to 90% of the frames from a video captured in the conventional manner are removed.

The author first examines the ambiguity in the concepts of Pierre Marty (regression, disorganisation). He considers the need to revise the concept of the drive which as it now stands, does not account well enough for disorganisations in psychosomatics. He proposes the hypothesis of an early dissociation between the drive and the object in psychosomatic structures. He concludes using the example of Goya who suffered from somatic crises which almost killed him, afterwards leading him to produce the Black paintings

This article is a translation of Green's text that introduces his work denominated The clinical thought. In this work, the author considers the importance of thinking the psychoanalytic clinic through the richness of the encounter of the analytical pair, from the propositions of Freud, developing original concepts that will give a certain contemporary luminosity to the themes addressed.

Development and validation of InnoQuant® HY, a system for quantitation and quality assessment of total human and male DNA using high copy targets.

The development and validation of InnoQuant® HY, a real-time PCR system containing four DNA targets-two RE autosomal targets of different sizes, male specific targets, and an internal positive control target-are described herein. The ratio of the two autosomal targets provides a Degradation Index, or a quantitative value of a sample's degradation state. The male specific targets are multi-copy targets located on the Y chromosome, which provides information about a sample's male DNA composition. The experimental results demonstrate InnoQuant HY as a robust qPCR method producing accurate DNA quantitation results even at low dynamic ranges, with reproducibility among population groups. The system is human specific with low level higher primate cross reactivity and is able to consistently and reproducibly detect sub-picogram concentrations of human and human male DNA. The use of high copy number Alu and SVA (>1000 copies per genome) retrotransposable elements as the two autosomal targets significantly enhances both sensitivity and reproducibility of determination of DNA quantitation as well as DNA degradation in forensic samples. The inclusion of a sensitive multi-copy Y-chromosome specific target provides accurate quantitation of DNA from a male in challenging male-female mixtures (i.e. sexual assault samples). Even in the presence of a large excess of DNA from a female, accurate quantitation was achieved with a male to female ratio of 1:128,000. Population database studies reveal an average Short/Y target ratio of the quantification values across all four populations tested was 1.124±0.282, exhibiting the system's reproducibility across multiple populations. The results from InnoQuant HY provide a tool equipping a forensic analyst with crucial data about a sample's DNA quantitation, male:female ratio, degradation state, and the presence or absence of PCR inhibitors. With the information gained from the InnoQuant HY kit, a more streamlined and efficient workflow can be created that minimizes unnecessary sample processing and retesting while maximizing recovery of probative DNA profiles from challenging biological evidence.

A posteriori, lo arcaico / A posteriori, the archaic

Partiendo de la distinción entre Primma y Summa, este trabajo conjuga los dos sentidos de lo arcaico: el de lo primero y el de lo primordial. Desde esta perspectiva, el autor propone deducir lo arcaico a posteriori, como la única manera de referirnos a él. Desde la base de que lo arcaico ilustra el estado de confusión que reina entre pulsión, objeto y yo, se postula que lo arcaico nunca es enteramente uniforme y que, en el estado normal, es legítimo buscar lo arcaico del lado del superyó: encarnado al cuerpo por el ello e injertado en lo más carnal que se contiene en la relación del hijo con las imagos parentales. En función de estas consideraciones, este trabajo muestra la fundación de la relación arcaica propia de las relaciones superyó-ideal en la ¿vialidad primaria que se expresa en la alternancia obediencia-orgullo entre el yo y el objeto, y en la confusión entre poder y potencia propia de los casos fronterizos. El autor concluye sosteniendo que ligar lo arcaico en el superyó y el ideal del yo es el mejor medio para no quedar preso entre el martillo de la obediencia y el yunque del orgullo (AU)

Drawing upon the distinction between Prima and Summa, this work conjugates the two meanings of the archaic: "the first"and "the most important". With this in mind, the author proposes that we may only apprehend the archaic a posteriori, retrospectively. Starting from the premise that the archaic illustrates the state of confusion that reigns between drive (instinct), object and ego, the author postulates that the archaic is never entirely uniform and that, in normal state, it is legitimate to look for the archaic on the side of the superego: taking on bodily form through the id and grafted onto that which is most carnal contained within the relationship of the child with the parental images. On the basis of these considerations, this work reveals the formation of the archaic relations-hip found in the relations between superego and ego ideal in "primary anality", expressed in the alternation of obedience/ pride between the ego and the object, and in the confusion between power and potency typical of borderline cases. The author concludes by arguing that binding the archaic within the superego and the ego ideal is the best way not to get Caught between the hammer of obedience and the anvil of pride (AU)

Mi trabajo ha seguido una línea rectora personal, aunque teniendo en cuenta las contribuciones psicoanalíticas ajenas. 1) El objetivo de poner el acento en el cambio en el analista era señalar que además de los cambios en el paciente resultaba necesario tener en cuenta el doble constituido por el cambio en el analista, gracias a la capacidad de este último de construir en su funcionamiento mental, por complementariedad, una figura homóloga a la del paciente. 2) el problema de las indicaciones de análisis fue enfocado desde el ángulo de la evaluación del paciente y desde el de la evaluación del efecto movilizador de la comunicación del analista en relación con el funcionamiento mental del paciente, es decir con la posibilidad – variable en cada caso y de acuerdo con cada analista- de formar un objeto analítico (un símbolo) a través de la reunión de las dos partes. 3) La descripción del modelo implícito de los estados límite, al ubicar en posición dominante a la escisión (Condición de la formación de un doble) y a la decatectización (como aspiración al punto cero), nos señala que los estados límite plantean el problema de los límites de la analizabilidad en el dilema delirar o morir. 4) El interés en relación con el encuadre analítico y con el funcionamiento mental intentaba articular las condiciones de formación del objeto analítico a través de la simbolización, tomando en consideración en la relación dual la intervención del tercero constituido por el encuadre. 5) El lugar del narcisismo primario aporta una ilustración complementaria a lo que precede. Es decir que junto a la formación de los doble de la comunicación de las relaciones de objeto se cierne un espacio personal, dominio narcisista catectizado positivamente en el Self silencioso del ser o negativamente en la aspiración al no ser. En el espacio potencial entre el Self y el objeto se ubica la dimensión de la ausencia, esencial para el desarrollo psíquico. This paper has been guided by a personal theme while taking into account the psychoanalytic contributions of others. 1) The emphasis placed on the changes within the analyst was designed to show that, as well as changes within the patient, one must also consider the double created by the changes within the analyst, due to his capacity for constructing, by complementarity, in his mental functioning, a figure homologous to that of the patient. 2) The problems of indications for analysis has been approached from the point of view of the gap between the analyst´s understanding and the patient´s material, and from that of the evaluation of the mobilizing effect of the analyst´s communication on the patient´s mental functioning, i. e on the possibility – which varies with each case and with each analyst – of forming an analytic object (a symbol) by the meeting of the two parties. 3) The description of the implicit model of a borderline state by putting splitting (a condition for the formation of a double) and decathexis (as a striving towards the zero state) in the dominant position shows us that borderline states raise the question of the limits of analyzability in the dilemma between delusion and death. 4) The attention given to the analytic setting and to mental functioning attempted to structure the conditions necessary for the formation of the analytic object through symbolization, by taking into account the intervention of the third element, which is the setting, in the dual relationship. 5) The place of primary narcissism gives us a point of view which complements the preceding one. In other words, alongside the doubles of communication of object relations is an encapsulated personal space which is a narcissistic domain, positively cathected in the silent self of being, or negatively cathected in the aspiration towards non-being. The dimension of absence, essential to psychic development, finds its place in the potential space between the self and the object. This paper does not claim to solve the crisis facing psychoanalysis, but only to raise some of the contradictions inherent in a theoretical pluralism and a heterogeneous practice. We have above all, attempted to formulate an image of psychoanalysis which reflects personal experience and gives it a conceptual form (AU)

Sources and vicissitudes of being in D. W. Winnicott's work.

The author questions the reasons for the appearance of the concept of being in Winnicott's work four years before his death. Winnicott illustrated his concept of being by describing a patient in whom he found a complete dissociation of male and female elements. Insisting on the role of the environment and the part played by the mother, Winnicott considered that the pure female element relates to the breast or the mother, in the sense that the baby is becoming the breast. He opined that instinct or drive has nothing to do with this. The present paper discusses this viewpoint at length, comparing Winnicott's and Freud's positions. It is noted that Winnicott introduced his concept of being at a time when he felt threatened by his own mortality.
